In honor and memory of Father J. Héctor Rangel Galván, C.P., of St. Ann Church in Clayton, NC and Passionist priest of the Mexican province, the Parish of St. Ann have established a Seminarian Partnership Endowment Fund. Consistent with his passion for teaching, the endowment fund will be built to support the education and formation of future generations of diocesan seminarians

Father Héctor Rangel Galván, C.P.,was born on May 2, 1964, in Apaseo el Grande, a municipality in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico. He was the second of eight children from the marriage of José Rangel Flores and Maria De Jesús Galván.
He entered the Minor Seminary of the Passionists, in Mexico City, on August 7, 1978, two years later he was sent to Zamora, Michoacán, to complete his studies in upper secondary education.
On February 1, 1982, the novitiate year began in the Community of Our Lady of Guadalupe, in Apaxco, State of Mexico.
At the conclusion of the canonical year, on February 5, 1983, he made his religious vows, committing himself to promoting the memory of the Passion of Jesus Christ with his life and apostolate commitment that he fulfilled throughout his life. On February 5, 1988, he made perpetual vows in the Community of Blessed Domingo Barberi, in El Pueblito, Querétaro. Deacons were incorporated into the Order on May 26, 1990, in the Passion Parish, in Mexico City. On October 17, 1992, he was ordained a priest by Mons. Samuel Ruiz García, Bishop of San Cristóbal de las Casas in the temple of Our Lady of Guadalupe, in the Los Olvera de Querétaro neighborhood.
Over the following 13 years, Father Hector served as Superior and teacher at the Francisco Possenti Institute, Novice teacher at the Community of Blessed Domingo Barberi and Consultor of the Province and Director of Students. During this time, he worked hard with other religious families, in the foundation of the Institute of Philosophy (IFFIM). In August 2010, Father Héctor was appointed Superior of this Community, developing a valuable apostolate as National Councilor of the Family Missionary Communities and companion of the Committed Christion Schools in Querétaro.
On August 21, 2018, Father Héctor submitted his resignation from the position of Director of Philosophy to review his history and vocational response. In October 2019 he undertook the opportunity of collaborating in the care of the Hispanic community of St. Ann Parish in North Carolina, leaving Mexico for the United States.
At the age of 56 years, and 28 years of priestly life, Father Héctor passed away from complications due to the Covid-19.
Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama reminded those present as his funeral that, “Since the priesthood is eternal, Father Héctor’s work will continue in heaven, but with another function…to continue interceding for us so that we can be reunited in heaven.

De acuerdo con su pasión por la enseñanza, el fondo de dotación se construirá para apoyar la educación y formación de las futuras generaciones de seminaristas diocesanos.
