In late 2023, Bishop Luis announced an initiative to build a comprehensive diocesan development structure that would coordinate the work of The Foundation, Bishop’s Annual Appeal, and all major gift fundraising under the leadership and administration of a newly created position of Chief Development Officer. As part of this restructuring, the new Chief Development Officer will simultaneously serve as the Executive Director of the Foundation to provide continuity at the Foundation while also facilitating coordination with other development functions within the Diocese of Raleigh.

Since that time, a process has been underway to identify the right candidate for the new role and begin aligning diocesan fundraising elements while maintaining existing efforts. We are excited to share that the new Chief Development Officer will be named soon.

Throughout this transition, the mission of the Foundation remains unchanged: to partner with the faithful to bring together the collective vision and financial resources to create a better future for the Diocese of Raleigh. The Foundation retains its status as a separate corporation, independently administrated and audited, and remains committed to faithfully stewarding the assets in its care according to the intentions of donors and the respective guidelines and governance of its endowments and other assets.

Current Foundation staff, including Director of Development, Donna Ashcroft, and Director of Communications and Endowment Management, Alicia Hastings, will continue in their existing roles. Maureen O’Keeffe Lindgren, current Executive Director of The Foundation, will continue until June 30th to assist with the transition to this newly aligned development approach. Bishop Luis and current and past members of The Foundation Board of Directors are grateful for Maureen’s professionalism, hard work, and commitment, which have been essential to supporting and advancing the mission of the Foundation and of the Diocese of Raleigh.

The Foundation is also grateful for the continued partnership, trust, and generosity of the diocesan faithful. During this centennial year there is much to be thankful for as we reflect on God’s grace and the collective work of all of those who have, and who continue to extend the mission of growing in the Body of Christ in Eastern North Carolina.
